Wood Grilled Burger

Wood Grilled Burger

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • ½ cup pimento cheese
  • 4 tablespoons bacon jam
  • 1 large Certified SC Grown tomato, cut into 4 slices
  • 1 small head Certified SC Grown butter lettuce, washed and leaves separated

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill to high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently form each into an 8 ounce patty. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the burgers on the hot grill and cook to your desired doneness, flipping once during cooking. Use an instant read thermometer to check doneness.
  4. Remove the burgers from the grill and let rest for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Spread 1 tablespoon bacon jam on the bottom half of each bun.
  6. Place a burger patty on each bun and top with 2 tablespoons pimento cheese.
  7. Add a tomato slice and 2 butter lettuce leaves to each burger. Finish with the top bun and serve immediately.
