Pecan Apple Cheese Ball

Pecan Apple Cheese Ball

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1¼ cups shredded extra sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 Certified SC Grown apple, finely diced
  • 1 scallion, white and green parts separated and finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Certified SC Grown pecans, toasted and finely chopped

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, Cheddar cheese, diced apple, scallion whites, and salt until well mixed.
  2. Coat a large piece of plastic wrap with cooking spray. Shape the cheese mixture into a ball, wrap tightly, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Meanwhile, toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Let cool completely.
  4. Combine the toasted pecans and scallion greens on a plate. Unwrap the cheese ball and roll it in the pecan mixture, pressing gently so it adheres.
  5. Serve chilled with crackers, pretzels, or fresh apple slices.
