Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Certified SC Grown potatoes, peeled and cut into evenly sized pieces
  • ½ cup whole milk, warmed
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped Certified SC Grown parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled and cut potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes thoroughly and return them to the warm pot. Let them sit for 1 to 2 minutes to allow excess moisture to evaporate.
  4. Add the warm milk, butter, and sour cream.
  5. Mash with a potato masher until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve warm.
